Officers

Carol Haas - President

     Carol joined WEGA in 2006.  She is a member of the Delaware and Philadelphia Women’s Golf Associations.  Carol is a member of the Board of  the DuPont Country Club and chair of the Women's Golf Association.  She is a member of the USGA Women's Mid Amateur Committee.  Carol is a course rater for the Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia.  She is a volunteer for the LPGA Urban Youth Golf Program in Wilmington, DE and for the LPGA Championship. She lives in Wilmington Delaware with her two cats.

Doris Bennett - Vice-President

     Doris joined WEGA in 2009. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, she moved to South Carolina in 2008.  Doris is currently a member at both the Raritan Valley Country Club and Rock Hill Country Club.  While in New Jersey, Doris was a member of the Women's Metropolitan Golf Association from 1995 - 2008 and the Garden State Women's Golf Association from 2003 - 2008.  She served as Treasurer of the WMGA from 2003 - 2007, as well as Treasurer of the WMGA Scholarship Foundation from 2003 - 2008.  Doris has been (and is currently) a member of the New Jersey Women's Golf Association since 2001 and joined the Charlotte Women's District Golf Association in 2009.

Sarah Robertson - Secretary

     Sarah retired from public education in 2003, having taught health, physical education and special education in Virginia since 1966.  She served as the supervisor of special education and at the time of retirement was high school school administrator.

     Sarah was a member of Springfield Golf and Country Club in Springfield VA for over 20 years until moving to Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, VA in 2004.  She was an active member of the Ladies Golf Association at Springfield prior to her move.  While at Springfield she served on the rules committee, chaired the ladies handicap committee and chaired the club handicap committee.  She also served on the major tournament committee and the golf committee.  She was a member of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia Golf Association where she served as a district division team captain.

     Since moving to Wintergreen, Sarah has served as the ladies golf chairman, handicap committee member and chairman.  She has also served on the golf committee.  Sarah is currently a member of the VSGA-WD Board of Directors and has served as the secretary for this group starting in November, 2009.      

Anne Fraser - Treasurer

    Anne was invited to join WEGA in July of 2010.  Anne was the 2003 WEGA Amateur Champion.  The WEGA Committee is honored to have Anne as an Executive Committee member. 

    After attempting the Futures Tour in 2004, Anne returned to competitive amateur golf in 2008 with the goal of finding a balance between working and continuing with the game she has loved for a lifetime.  Following the completion of her Masters Degree in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University, Anne moved to New England in early 2008.  She has become involved in the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts (WGAM), where she currently serves on the WGAM finance committee.  When not golfing, Anne is a practicing CPA in the Boston area, an aspiring fiction writer in her spare time and a novice curler during the often snowy New England winters.  Anne currently resides in Lynn, Massachusetts with her husband Steve and her dog Wallace.   

Jan Sutherland - Ex-Officio

     Jan joined WEGA in the fall of 2001.   Jan is a member of the Virginia State Golf Association - Women's Division, Virginia State Golf Association, VSGA Foundation, and the WGA at Danville Golf Club.   She is a Past President of the VSGA-Womens Division and served on the board for eight years.   She is also a Past President of the WGA at Danville Golf Club.
     In the winter of 2001, Jan became the first woman to be elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Virginia State Golf Association.   She also serves on the Board of the VSGA Golf Foundation.  Among her many golf achievements, she has won twenty club championships at the Danville Golf Club.  Jan resides in Virginia with her husband, Jim.  They have three daughters and six grandchildren.

Charlotte Balick

      Char joined WEGA in 1982. She has served as Secretary, Vice President and President.  She is a member of the Women's Golf Association of Philadelphia and was a member of the Executive Committee.  She is currently a captain of a WGAP course rating team.  Char was a member of the Griscom Cup.  She has been runner-up in the Philadelphia Championship twice and was Senior Champion and Super Senior Champion.  She is also a member of the Delaware Women's Golf Association and has been their Amateur Champion six times, Senior Champion seven times and Super Senior Champion.  She was also elected to the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame.  Char resides in Delaware and has a son, Donald, and a daughter, Bonnie and four grandchildren.

Liz Frem

     Liz was invited to join WEGA in June of 2010.  Liz is a member of the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts and has been a Board Member shince 2007.  She is past chairman of the Rules Committee.  Liz volunteers as a Rules Official for various organizations in Massachusetts as well as Arizona.  She is a member of the USGA Women's Public Links Committee.  She is a member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club in Boylston, MA and her family owns and operates Cyprian Keyes Golf Course, a public golf and function facility in Massachusetts.

     A retired Certified Public Accountant, she lives in Boylston with her husband and pet beagle.  Liz and her husband have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Mimi Henderson

     Mimi has been a member of the WEGA Committee since 1999  She served as President from 2004 to 2006 and  was the Championship Chairman for the WEGA Senior Championship for four years.  She is on the Board of Directors of the Women's Southern Golf Association.  Mimi is a member of the Florida Women's State Golf Association and the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts.  Mimi serves on the USGA Women's Mid Amateur Committee and the Rules Committee of the WGAM.

     She resides in Osprey, Florida and summers in Marion, Massachusetts with her husband, Ron.

Carolyn O’Donnell

   Carolyn joined WEGA in June of 2003.  Her first association with WEGA was as a spotter at the Women’s Eastern Championship at Charles River Country Club in 1991. Carolyn brings to the Committee a strong rules knowledge.  She previously served as Chairman of the Rules Committee of the WGAM.  In 1995 Carolyn served as Co-Chairman of the Volunteers for the USGA Women’s Amateur held at The Country Club.  She has attended Rules Workshops, Tournament Administration seminars, and Handicapping and Rating programs sponsored by the USGA.  She is a rules educator with junior girls programs in Massachusetts.  Carolyn is a member of The Country Club and Hyannisport Club and has held Club Championship titles at both clubs.  She lives in Wellesley and Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.

Judy Norton

     Judy accepted the invitation to join WEGA in August of 2005.  She is a former President of the Women’s Golf Association of  Massachusetts (WGAM).  She joined the WGAM Board of Directors upon taking early retirement from Bank of Boston in 1997.  For the first few years she served as Finance Chairperson and completed her seven years of service as Vice President and then President.   Judy also served on the Board of Directors of The Massachusetts Golf Association and the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund. 
     Judy is a member of Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover Massachusetts.  She served as Chairperson for Women’s Golf in 1998 and 1999.  She also served on the Indian Ridge Country Club Advisory Board.  She was the recipient of the Indian Ridge “Green Jacket” award for her contributions to the game of golf.
     Although her degree was in education, her entire career was in business and in management.  She worked for Bank of Boston for twenty-two years.  She currently resides in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Shelley Savage

     Shelley Savage of Alexandria, Virginia served for 26 years on active duty in the Navy Nurse Corps, retiring from the Navy in 2003 at the rank of Captain.  She continues her nursing career as a Staff RN in Outpatient Surgery at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.  Shelley combines her professional endeavors with longstanding active participation in a variety of competitive and administrative golf activities.  She served as President of the Virginia State Golf Association-Women’s Division in 2006-2007 and Vice-President in 2004-2005.  Shelley also served as the 1996 & 1997 Captain of the Virginias Team during the annual Virginias/Carolinas Team Matches.  An accomplished golfer, Shelley won the 2006 WEGA Senior Championship.  Other recent titles include the 2006 Virginia Senior Women’s Amateur; the 2005, 2006 & 2008 Virginia Senior Women’s Stroke Play, the 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2009 Women’s District of Columbia Golf Association (WDCGA) Championship, and the 2007 & 2008 WDCGA Senior.

     Shelley, a native of Trenton, Michigan, holds a Master of Science degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the University of Michigan.            

Debbie Weber

 Debbie joined WEGA in January of 2005.  She currently serves as rules and handicap chair for the Women's Golf Association at  The Reserve Club at Woodside, and  is a member of the South Carolina Golf Association.  She has served on the Women’s District of Columbia Golf Association’s Executive Committee as Teams Chair,  Handicap Chair, and as member of the Rules Committee.   She has also served on the Women's Golf Association board at Army Navy County Club in Virginia as Treasurer, Teams Liaison and  Couples Tournament Chair.   

Debbie and her husband, Jack, reside in Aiken, South Carolina.  They have three married children, Todd, Reagan and Amanda and three grandchildren.
