ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

The Championship is open to female amateur golfers, with a certified handicap index of 11.5 or less and who belong to a WEGA Member Club (or have school affiliation) that has paid dues for 2006. Clubs and schools in the following states are eligible to join the Association: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

 

The field will be limited to the eighty (80) applicants with the lowest handicap index.

 

MEMBERSHIP

 

The contestant’s club or school must be a member of the Women’s Eastern Golf Association. THE $30.00 NONREFUNDABLE DUES FOR 2006 MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE ENTRY DEADLINE.

(Contestant may remit dues for her club).

FORMAT

 

54 Hole Stroke Play Championship

 

CHAMPIONSHIP FEES

 

A Contestant will be required to pay both the Entry Fee and the Host Club Fee and include the checks (2) with her entry form.

Entry Fee: $90.00 Make check payable to WEGA.

HOST CLUB FEE is $60.00 payable to Gulph Mills Golf Club.

This fee includes, unlimited range balls and club storage.  No pull carts will be allowed. A player may carry her own bag or use a club caddie. Motorized carts are available for medical necessity only. Cart fee will be waived but player must use club caddie.

 

CADDIES

 

Only Gulph Mills Golf Club caddies may be used. If a contestant wishes to use a club caddie she must reserve one through the Golf Shop at the Gulph Mills Golf Club.  Please call the Golf Shop at 610-828-9370 to reserve a caddie or to make inquires regarding caddies. Caddie fees will be $75.00 for a single caddie and $60.00 for a double per day including gratuity.  Total refund for cancellations up to June 1st. Entry Fee will NOT be refunded after June 1st. Club Fee will NOT be refunded after June 6th.

 

REGISTRATION / LATE ARRIVAL

 

Contestants must register on Monday, June 12th from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Gulph Mills Golf Club or notify the Committee of late arrival. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of place. Gulph Mills Golf Club Golf Shop: 610-828-9370.

 

PRACTICE ROUND

 

The course will be open to contestants from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday June 12th.  Call Golf Shop for starting time after May 31st.  610-828-9370.

 

MANDATORY RULES MEETING

 

This is mandatory and will be held at the club on MONDAY, JUNE 12th at 5:30 p.m.

 

CLUB POLICIES

 

Dress Code: Gulph Mills Golf Club has a specific dress code. Sleeveless shirts must have collars. No tank tops or logo tee shirts are permitted. Shorts must be at least Bermuda length. Gulph Mills Golf Club is a soft-spike and non-denim facility.

 

All purchases in the clubhouse and golf shop will be CASH ONLY.

Directions to Gulph Mills Golf Club

From Philadelphia - Take 76 West to Gulph Mills Exit 330. Take left at 1st stop sign, then take immediate right at the traffic light. Bear left at fork in road where Rt. 320 bears off to right. Go past Septa Train Station on left and at top of hill, turn right onto Swedeland Road. Driveway is on left.

From Wilmington - Take 476 North to 76 West (Valley Forge). Once on 76 West, exit immediately at Gulph Mills Exit. Follow Philadelphia directions above.

From New Jersey via PA Turnpike - Take Turnpike to Exit 20 and follow signs to 476 South. Once on 476 South, exit at 76 West. Once on 76 West exit immediately at Gulph Mills Exit. Follow Philadelphia directions above.

From Central Pennsylvania via PA Turnpike - Take Turnpike to Exit 326 (Valley Forge). After toll booth stay in left lanes and follow 76 East. Go 3 miles to Gulph Mills Exit. Once on exit ramp, stay to left and turn left at traffic light onto South Gulph Rd. Pass Septa Train Station on right and make next right after station. Cross bridge and make immediate left onto Swedeland Rd. Driveway is on left.

RULES MEETING - Mandatory - Monday, June 12th at 5:30 p.m.

LONG DRIVE CONTEST - Hosted by WEGA will immediately follow the Rules Meeting

CENTENNIAL DINNER - Celebrating WEGA'S 100th year will be held at Gulph Mills Golf Club on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 6:30 pm

 

PRIZES

 

Prizes are awarded to the Champion and the Runner Up and the 8 Low Gross Finishers.  The OSGOOD SHIELD award is given for team stroke play and is competed for concurrently with the Championship.  Teams must have a minimum of five (5) players and will  be drawn. Posting 5 gross scores daily, the team having the lowest 3 day aggregate score wins the Shield. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
